   Cause of her death was mitral disease of the heart over 6 months.

  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Kilmarnock parish recorded Mary George living at Braefoot Scots Lane with her husband and son. She was 31 years of age and had been born in 'Colaine Argyleshire'[sic]. She was a housekeeper.

When her son Samuel married in 1872 at Newmains, Lanarkshire, the marriage certificate shows that Mary had been widowed and remarried, her married name being McCrae.

In 1881 the census for Cambusnethan recorded Mary McCrae living at 27 Brown Street. Her age was noted as 61 years and her birthplace as Killean, Argyllshire.

In 1886 Mary McRae died in Falkirk at the recorded age of 65 years. Her death certificate recorded her as 'Married 1st to Moses George engineman 2nd to John McRae labourer'. Both of her parents were recorded as deceased, but no given names were recorded for them, only surnames derived from that of the deceased person. No maiden surname was noted for her mother. Her father was recorded as having been a shepherd. 2 5 6 10 11

WHICH MARY?

There are several Mary McLeans born around the same time as this Mary in the parish of Killean and Argyllshire. More work would be needed to sift them.

  Medical Notes:

The cause of death was certified by David Haig MB CM.

The informant of Mary's death was her widower John McRae. He gave notice of her death before John Gentles, registrar, at Falkirk on June 3 1886. 6


Mary married Moses GEORGE, son of Samuel GEORGE (DNA Linked) and Rebecca REID (DNA Linked), on 17 April 1847 in Dalry Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Moses GEORGE was born on 12 July 1817, baptised on 10 August 1817 in Newton on Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland and died between 1851 and 1854.)


Mary next married John McCRAE on 2 June 1854 in Kilmarnock Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.2 (John McCRAE was born in 1819 in Ireland 7 11 and died in 1896 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland 12.)
