  General Notes:

The 1861 census recorded John McRae [sic] and his wife Mary living with their children, including Samuel from Mary's earlier marriage, at 163 Dalmarnock Road in the Calton district of Glasgow.

The 1971 census recorded John McRae and family living at 27 Brown Street, Cambusnethan parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland. John was a furnace filler.

John McCrae was the head of a small household living at 27 Brown Street Cambusnethan according to the census of 1881. John was a stone quarry labourer aged 61 years and had been born in Ireland.

John McRae was the informant of the death of his wife Mary in 1886 at Falkirk. He was noted in her death certificate as her second husband, and as a labourer.

The census of 1891 recorded John McCrae living with his married daughter Mary McPherson and her family at Robert's Wynd Falkirk Burgh, Stirlingshire, Scotland. 4 5 6 7 8


John married Mary McLEAN on 2 June 1854 in Kilmarnock Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Mary McLEAN was born in 1819 in Campbeltown, Argyllshire, Scotland 5 6 7 9 and died 3 June 1886 at 7.30 am in Robert's Wynd, Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland 6.). The cause of her death was mitral disease of the heart over 6 months.
