  General Notes:

James was not recorded in the census of 1871 as he was born at the end of the month in which it was taken. His father was a coal miner and the family were at Holmes Colliery, the census records, at Knowehead Rows.

James was only eleven and a half months old when he died. 2 3

  Medical Notes:

The cause of death was certified by I. McLatchy MD.

The child's father, Peter Quigley, a coal miner, notified the registrar at Galston, James C. Hutchison, on 18 April 1872 of his son's death, and made his X mark.
