Elizabeth was recorded in 1841 aged 47 years living with her husband and family in Brewland Street, Galston, Ayrshire. She had three sons and three daughters living in the household aged 3 years to 18 years.

In the third marriage certificate of her son, Montgomery Steven, in 1885, the name of his mother was recorded as Jean Gilmour and not Elizabeth Connel.
Jean Gilmour was in fact his grandmother's name. Jean Gilmour and GEORGE Steven were the parents of Montgomery Steven, born in 1794, father of the bridegroom in 1885.

The Montgomery Steven who was marrying in 1885, and had given his age as 65, was the son of Montgomery Steven and Elizabeth Connel, and grandson of George Steven and Jean Gilmour. That Montgomery Steven had been born between 1817 and 1821. ⁵

Elizabeth married Montgomery STEVEN, son of George STEVENS and Jean GILMOUR. (Montgomery STEVEN was born on 23 January 1794 in Ayrshire, Scotland and was baptised on 10 February 1794 in Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland.)
