"John Twigley" was recorded by the 1841 census for Barony parish, Glasgow. He was living with his mother, brothers and sister at 114 Main Street, Anderston. His age was recorded as being 12 years and his birthplace as outside the census county in which he was living, ie in Scotland but not in Lanarkshire. He was working as a "drawer in fancy weaving".

No trace has as yet been found of John after the 1841 census. 1 2
