Arthur Tweedly who was present where Mary's death occurred, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar at Paisley on 19 March 1923.

Arthur Tweedly registered the birth of his son Arthur in 1925. He was recorded as an engineer's machinist.

This same occupation was noted on his daughter Margaret's birth certificate in 1927.

In 1929 Arthur himself notified the registrar of Elizabeth's birth. His occupation was as the same as outlined above.

In 1952 Arthur Tweedly was recorded as an engineer's machinist in the marriage certificate of his son Arthur. 3 4

This family, descended through Arthur, shows in its use of its surname a development from Quigley to Tweedley to Tweedly:
Arthur Quigley baptised 1862 in Kilmarnock,
the same person married Mary Gracie in 1887 in Partick as Arthur Tweedley,
and their son, whose file this file is, was registered in 1891 as Arthur Tweedly, a form of surname which his descendants continue to use.


Arthur married Elizabeth ARCHIBALD, daughter of Hugh ARCHIBALD and Margaret HOGG, on 6 June 1924 in 117 Glasgow Road, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (Elizabeth ARCHIBALD was born 19 July 1896 at 1.30 am in Knockentiber, Crosshouse, Kilmaurs, Ayrshire, Scotland 8 9 and died on 5 December 1979 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according to the forms of the United Free Church. It was solemnised by John L. Morgan, minister of the United Free Church of Scotland, Oakshaw East Paisley. The witnesses were Andrew R. Lyon of 79 Back Sneddon Street, Paisley, and Elizabeth McNeil of 16 Argyle Street, Paisley.

The groom, Arthur, (whose name was inserted above a crossed out "William"), was an unmarried man of 33 years. He was an engineering machinist, residing at 34 Bank Street, Paisley. His mother was deceased.

The bride, Elizabeth Archibald or Mitchell, was a widow aged 27 years, residing at 18 Argyle Street, Paisley. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered at Paisley on 9 June 1924.
