  General Notes:

Alice was the second child of this family to be called by this name.

The 1881 census recorded Alice aged 2 years living with her family at 2 Eddlewood Road, Hamilton, Lanarkshire. She had three older brothers and one older sister. She was born in Hamilton.

The 1891 census for Neilston, Barrhead, recorded an Alice Lynch, aged 11 years, granddaughter of Agnes Summers, living at Young's Land, Main Street, with her grandmother, head of the household. Her birthplace was recorded simply as Lanarkshire.

Alice Quinn died in 1934, 'widow of Patrick Quinn Board of Trade Outdoor Worker'. She was recorded as 54 years, and her usual residence was 17 Boghall Street, Stonehouse. Both of her parents were deceased. 4 6

J. Livingston Loudon MD certified the causes of death.

James Quinn, son of the deceased, of 19 Boghall Street, Stonehouse, gave notice of his mother's death before James Frame, registrar, at Hamilton on 4 May 1934. 4


Alice married Patrick QUINN, son of Patrick QUIN and Elizabeth McPHILLIPS, on 18 November 1898 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Patrick QUINN was born in 1877 in Bridgeton, Glasgow, Scotland 1 7 and died before 4 May 1934.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father Thomas Hackett. The witnesses were John McCallum and Mary McGavigan who made her X mark.

Patrick Quinn was an unmarried man of 21 years who worked as a coal miner. His address was noted as Park View, Blantyre.

Alice Lynch was a cotton factory weaver. She, too, was unmarried, and was 18 years of age. She lived in Dixon Street, Blantyre. Both of her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Blantyre on 22 November 1898, Hugh MacMillan being the registrar. 1
