  General Notes:

Patrick Quin [sic] was recorded by the 1891 census living in his parents' home in Blantyre. Patrick's age was noted as 13 years and his birthplace as 'Brideton Lanarkshire' [sic]. He was employed as a coal miner.

In the 1901 census for Blantyre Patrick Quinn was living with his wife Alice and their daughter Alice, aged 1 year, at 71 McAlpines Building. Patrick was an Oncost Pit Worker, aged 23 years, and had been born in Glasgow.

Patrick's wife's death certificate of 1934 recorded him as having been a Board of Trade outdoor worker. He himself was dead by that date. 2 3 4


Patrick married Alice LYNCH, daughter of James LYNCH and Alice SOMERS, on 18 November 1898 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Alice LYNCH was born 28 May 1879 at 9.00 am in 46 Allanton Rows, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland 5 6 and died 4 May 1934 at 6.50 am in 41 Bothwell Road, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland 7.). The cause of her death was chronic bronchitis and tuberculosis of the lungs.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father Thomas Hackett. The witnesses were John McCallum and Mary McGavigan who made her X mark.

Patrick Quinn was an unmarried man of 21 years who worked as a coal miner. His address was noted as Park View, Blantyre.

Alice Lynch was a cotton factory weaver. She, too, was unmarried, and was 18 years of age. She lived in Dixon Street, Blantyre. Both of her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Blantyre on 22 November 1898, Hugh MacMillan being the registrar. 1
