  General Notes:

Daniel's father, a coal miner, registered his birth on 13 April 1866 at Paisley and signed his name.

The 1871 census for Allanton Colliery, Hamilton recorded Daniel Lynch living with his parents and brother and sister. He was the middle child of three, aged 4 years old, and had been born in Nitshill, Renfrewshire.

The 1881 census recorded Daniel aged 15, born in Neilston, Renfrewshire. He was recorded as a 'coal miner'. He had two brothers and two sisters younger than he was. He lived at 2 Eddlewood Road Hamilton.

The 1891 census recorded him living in Blantyre at 45 Dixon Street, with his brother, Andrew, and his mother, Alice. He was 24 years old, unmarried, and working as a coal miner. He was born in Nitshill, Renfrewshire.

His mother died in July 1891 in a tragic accident, less than two weeks before his brother James' marriage, and it was Daniel who informed the registrar of his mother's death.

In 1909 Daniel Lynch was the informant of his son Christopher's birth at 61 Dixon Street Blantyre. His date of marriage was noted as 17 April 1899, just a bit out! His occupation was that of coal miner.

On 17 January 1914 a short report appeared in the Hamilton Advertiser which may be this Daniel Lynch:
"POLICEMEN'S RECEPTION
At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Saturday, Daniel Lynch, miner, Dixon Street, Blantyre, was charged with having committed a breach of the peace, and assaulted Police Constables Straiton and McNeil. It was explained (on accused pleading guilty) that the officers had gone to accused's house, where Lynch met them with a chair, with which bulky weapon he struck both constables on the head. Accused, who admited to having been previously convicted, was sentenced by Sheriff Shennan (unclear) to three months imprisonment."

Daniel died in 1931, survived by his wife, Annie. His recorded age at death was 52 years. He was in fact aged 64. 'Coal hewer' was recorded as his occupation. 4 5 6

Daniel married Annie Jane CONWAY, daughter of James CONWAY and Alice FITZSIMMONS, on 23 February 1898 in RC Chapel, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Annie Jane CONWAY was born in 1879 and died after 6 April 1931.)
