  General Notes:

In 1901 Aleck Lochhead was recorded by the census living in Edinburgh with his mother and two brothers. He was 8 years old and had been born in Blackness, Linlithgowshire (Bo'ness). He was at school.


Alexander J. Lockhead enlisted in the army in Edinburgh. His number was 1321. He was killed in action in the Balkan Theatre of War in 1915.

In the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website:
"Pvte Alexander John LOCHHEAD 1321 "H" Coy. 4th Bn., Royal Scots died age 22 on 14 July 1915 Gallipolli, son of late Clr. Sergt. A.J. & Mrs. Margaret LOCHHEAD, of 95 Dalry Rd, Edinburgh."

His medal card survives to show he was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory medals but his army record has not survived. 2
