The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Michael O'Keeffe CC. The witnesses were William McIntosh and Ellen Murphy.

Thomas Hanlon was a a coalminer by occupation. He was unmarried, aged 22 years, and lived at Bell's Land, New Dundyvan, Coatbridge.

Susan McInairney made her X mark. By occupation she was a domestic servant, was 18 years old and unmarried. Her address was Johnston's Land, New Dundyvan, Coatbridge. Both of her parents were deceased.

The marriage was registered at Coatbridge on 15 November 1873, James Mitchell being the signing registrar.

Note: Susan's parents were dead by the time she married. This may explain the erroneous first name given for her father in the marriage lines. The surname was already recorded in a variety of forms.
