  General Notes:

Michael's father, also Michael, applied for parochial relief in 1878. According to the information given there, Michael was then 30 years old. He had been born in Ayr and was then a married man with four children. He was a slater by trade, but found little work as there was 'little doing at present.' Michael's father lived with him and his family.

In the 1881 census Michael Tweedley was recorded as aged 30 years and born in 'Singuire' parish, Ayrshire, Scotland. This was probably Sanquhar. He was a slater by trade.

In the 1891 census Michal Tweedlie was resident in Calton recorded as aged 41 years.

In the census of 1901 Michael Tweedlie was recorded living in Calton aged 50 years.

When Michael died at Woodilee Asylum in 1911, his usual residence was recorded as 21 Well Street, Calton, Glasgow. His age was noted as 59 years and the fact that he was married to Mary Judge was noted too. He was a slater by occupation. Both of his parents were deceased. 2

The cause of Michael's death was certified by A. M. Dryden MB ChB.

His son, Thomas Tweedly, of 69 Kirk Street Calton Glasgow, gave notice of Michael's death before the registrar at Kirkintilloch, George M. Watson, on 9 January 1911.


Michael married Mary JUDGE, daughter of Michael JUDGE and Hannah McWHINNEY, on 11 July 1870 in St Mary's Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland. (Mary JUDGE was born about 1850 in Ireland and died on 24 February 1916 in 21 Well Street, Glasgow, Scotland.). The cause of her death was chronic bronchitis and cardiac failure.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church.

Micheale(sic) Tweedley was an unmarried man of 21 years of age who worked as a journeyman slater. His usual residence was 618 Gallowgate Street, Glasgow.

Mary Judge was a pottery worker, aged 22 years, and unmarried. her address was noted as 562 Gallowgate Street Glasgow.

The priest was E. Noonan, and the witnesses were Laurence Kelly, who made his X mark, and Mary Deans, who made her X mark.
