   Cause of her death was old age and weakness over 2 months.4

   Other names for Helen were FEELY, Ellen,4 KEANIN, Helen, KEENAN, Ellen,1 5 6 KINAN, Helen 1 5 and KINEN, Helen.

  General Notes:

In the 1855 birth certificate of her son Hugh, Helen Keenan was recorded as being 30 years of age and having been born in County Fermanagh, Ireland. Hugh was her first child.

Helen Feely was recorded by the 1861 census for Dalziel living with her husband and three children at Glenhead. She was recorded as being Irish born, and aged 34 years.

When she died in 1894 Ellen Feely was recorded as the widow of Terence Feely coalminer. Her recorded age at death was 65 years. Both of her parents were deceased. 3 4 7

Robert Livingston MD certified the cause of death.

Ellen Feely's son in law, James Berry, who was present where her death occurred, gave notice of her death before the registrar, Thomas Steele, at Wishaw on 8 March 1894. 4


Helen married Terence FEELY, son of Hugh FEELY and Betty CONNELLY, on 16 May 1855 in Roman Catholic Chapel, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 (Terence FEELY was born on 24 June 1827 in Glanif, County Leitrim, Ireland 2 and died 25 September 1893 at 11.20 am in 15 Sunnyside Rows, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was pneumonia over 14 days.4


  Marriage Notes:

Terence Feely, resident at Carfin, was a widower aged 29 years. This was his second marriage. He had been born, but not registered, in Glanif, County Leitrim, Ireland on 24 June 1827. Both his parents were still alive.

Helen Kinen was an unmarried woman of 30 years of age. She too was resident at Carfin. She was born but not registered in County Fermanagh, Ireland on 2 May 1825. Her parents were still living.

Patrick O'Leary RCC celebrated the marriage. The witnesses were James Keanin and Agnes Mc(unclear) who made her X mark.

The marriage was registered at Hamilton on 25 May 1855, William Dickson being the signing registrar. 2
