  General Notes:

A Samuel Quigley, very probably this man, was a sponsor at the baptism of Samuel, son of Hugh and Isabella Dougherty at Kilmarnock on 1 November 1818 by Fr James McLachlan. Sophia Develin was the second godparent.


Samuel married Catharine DOCHARTY on 15 July 1820 in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Catharine DOCHARTY was born about 1805 in Ayrshire, Scotland 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

Fr William Caven of St Mirin's Paisley married Samuel and Catherine at Ayr on 15 July 1820.
(At that time Ayr Roman Catholics were served by the clergy of St Mirin's parish Paisley.)

The witnesses were William Cartan and James Boyle.

The certificate of the proclamation of banns was from the session clerk at Kilmarnock, (oddly at the later date of Aug 4 1820.) 5
