The poor law relief application made by his wife Anne in 1879 states that Patrick Goldie had deserted her at the start of September of that year . A labourer, he was recorded as aged 27 years and born in County Cavan, Ireland. He was the son of James Goldie, deceased, and Ann Curtis.

When Patrick Goldie died in 1904 he was recorded as "Plasterer's Labourer widower of Ann McMahon" and as aged 45 years, probably an underestimate. Both of his parents were deceased. Barnhill Poorhouse had been his usual residence. James Goldie, his son, of 35 Young Street, Calton, was the informant. 2 3
