When John Goldie alias John Drumgoun married in 1867 his marriage certificate recorded his father as "John Drumgoun Corn Miller (deceased)".

James Gouldie was a labourer according to the marriage certificate of his son Patrick in 1875. He was deceased by then. The same occupation was noted for him in the 1888 poor law relief application of John Goldie, another son. ^{1 3 4}
