In the marriage certificate of "John Drumgoun" and Mary McMachan in 1867 in Glasgow, John's mother was recorded as "Ann Hanagan Previously Drumgown MS Curtis". This format translates as Ann's surname before marriage was Curtis, then she married someone called Drumgown, and later married a second time to a man named Hanagan.

Ann's name is recorded as Ann Curtis in the poor law relied application of Anne McMahon, daughter in law, in Glasgow in 1879. ^{1 4}
