In 1881 Francis Vallely was recorded as 48 years old, and was a labourer in an Ironworks. He and his family lived at 15 Stonecraigs Rows in Cambusnethan parish in Lanarkshire.

The 1891 census for Cambusnethan parish recorded Francis as aged 48 years!

When Francis died in 1892 his death certificate recorded him as 'gatekeeper at iron works, married to Alice Connelly'. He was recorded as 45 years of age! Both of his parents were deceased.

The 1908 marriage certificate of his daughter Alice recorded Francis as a blast furnaceman.

In 1925 when his wife Alice died, Francis Vallely was recorded in her death certificate as having been a 'labourer (blast furnace)'. 2 4 5 7 8

A. F. Walker MB & CM certified the causes of death.

Owen Vallely, son of the deceased, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, Thomas Steele, at Wishaw on 9 September 1892. 4


Francis married Alice CONNELLY, daughter of Owen CONNELLY and Bridget O'NEIL, on 17 November 1867 in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 (Alice CONNELLY was born about 1845 in Ireland and died 18 May 1925 at 8.00 pm in Almondbank Terrace, Glasgow Road, Wishaw, Lanarkshire, Scotland 4 7 8.). The cause of her death was valvular disease of the heart.4
