  General Notes:

Sarah was aged 5 years when recorded by the 1851 census. with her family living at Laurieston in the parish of Govan.

Sarah was mentioned by Jean Porter in information given in an application for parochial relief from Barony parish in 1861. She was aged 15 years and had been born in Ireland. She was a millworker but idle at that time.

An entry in the 1871 census for Calton Glasgow lists a Sarah Quigly and a Martha Quigly, Sarah as the elder sister and Martha as the younger. The two women were living at 240 Gallowgate. The entry listed Sarah as the head of the household, born Glasgow, aged 34 years and unmarried. She worked as a blacker. Martha, her sister it was recorded, was also unmarried, also born Glasgow and also worked as a blacker. She was 18 years old. Other, earlier, evidence tells us Sarah was born in Ireland.

Sarah Dott was recorded as 34 years of age when the 1881 census was taken. She was living with her husband james at 97 Fountain Bridge and was recorded as a 'packing box make's wife'. Her birthplace was noted as Glasgow.

When Sarah Dott died in 1883 her recorded age was 36 years. 3 4 5 6 7
