Rose Vallady was a sponsor along with Matthew Connelly at the baptism on 29 November 1849 of John, lawful son of Patrick Murphy and Catherine Woods, born 7 November, by Father John Black, at Coatbridge.

Rose Vallaly was a sponsor at the baptism of Mary, born 26 May 1850, lawful daughter of John Kennedy and Ellen McAleece of Newmains, by Father John Black at St Athanasius Carluke on 9 June 1850. The second sponsor was Patrick Brown.

Rosy Valliday was recorded by the 1851 census for Newmains Cambusnethan living with her family at 11 Burnside Row. Aged 17 years she was the eldest of three sisters. She had been born in Ireland, the only one of her sisters to be so. She worked as a tambourer.

On 13 April 1851 Rose Vallely was one of two sponsors at the baptism of John Boyle by Father John Black at Carluke. John Boyle was the lawful son of John Boyle and Matilda Love of Newmains and had been born on 26 March 1851. Thomas McCallum was the second sponsor.

The 1861 census for Cambusnethan Lanarkshire recorded Rosana Queen living with her husband, her two children, one aged 2 years and the other 6 months, and a boarder. Rosana had been born in Ireland and was recorded as 25 years old.

R. Queen, the deceased's daughter who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of her mother's death before the registrar, G. Millar Buchanan, at Glasgow on 23 June 1890.

When Rosina Quinn died in 1909 her death certificate recorded her as widow of Francis Quinn coal miner. Her recorded age at death was 71 years. Both of her parents were deceased. 4 6 7 8 11

John Quinn, son of the deceased, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar, Geo. P. Strathern, at Glasgow on 23 December 1909. 4


Rose married Francis QUINN, son of Thomas QUEEN and Agnes McSHANE, on 2 February 1858 in Catholic Church, Lanark, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 3 (Francis QUINN was born about 1835 in Ireland 5 9 10 12 and died 11 August 1879 at 10.30 am in 23 Ann Street, Burnbank, Hamilton, Scotland 4 10.). The cause of his death was kidney disease.4


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was John Black, Catholic priest of Lanark. The witnesses were James Quin, who made his X mark, and Mary Kennedy.

Francis Quinn was a single man of 21 years residing at Waterloo, Cambusnethan parish. He was a coal miner.

Rosan Vallaly of Cambusnethan Kirk was a house servant and 22 years of age. She too was single.

The marriage was registered at Lanark on 5 February 1858, John Gray being the signing registrar. 3 9
