  General Notes:

The 1861 census for Liff Parish, Dundee, recorded William McGonagall, his wife Jean, their five children, and a lodger, Margaret King, living at 24 Mid Wynd. The youngest boy of the five children listed was Charles McGonagall. He was recorded as being 4 years old and his birthplace was recorded as Dundee.

In 1871 the census for Dundee recorded Charles McGonagall living at 41 Step Row with his parents and six siblings. Charles' age was recorded as 12 years and his birthplace as Dundee. He was a papermaker's apprentice.

Charles McGonnigal was recorded by the 1881 census for Dundee living at 19 Paton's Land with his parents, five siblings, and a nephew, Andrew. His age was noted as 20 years, a noticeable underestimate, and his birthplace as Dundee. He was a hackle maker by occupation.

In the child's 1884 death certificate, the father of William McGonigal, who died aged 4 months in Dundee, was named as Charles McGonigal, hackle maker.

Charles McGonnagal, son of the deceased living at 12 Eliza Street, gave notice of his mother's death before the registrar, T. G. Miller, at the district of St Peter's, Dundee, on 25 February 1911 and made his X mark. 3 4 5 6


Charles married Jessie DUFFUS. (Jessie DUFFUS was born about 1860 and died after 6 May 1884 1.)
