Teresa Kavanagh was recorded by the 1881 census for Shotts parish, Lanarkshire, living with her family at Omoa Square, Cleland. Teresa was aged 38 years and had been born in Ireland.

Teresa Cavenagh was recorded as 44 years of age by the 1891 census for Shotts parish western district. She was Irish born and was living with her four children, aged 15 years to 1 year, as well as one boarder. 4 5


Theresa married John CAVANAGH, son of Bernard CAVANAGH and Alice LAPPIN, on 15 November 1864 in Dungannon RC Church, Drumglass Parish, County Tyrone, Ireland.1 2 (John CAVANAGH was born in 1840 in County Tyrone, Ireland 4 5 and died 20 November 1909 at 11.00 pm in Omoa Square, Cleland, Lanarkshire, Scotland 6.). The cause of his death was bronchitis 1 month.


  Marriage Notes:

In the birth certificate of his daughter Catharine in 1875, John Cavanagh gave the date and place of his marriage:
November of 1863 or 1864 in Killiman, County Tyrone, Ireland

Note: This place is probably Killyman in County Tyrone. Griffiths Valuation, taken between 1848 and 1864, lists Killyman and there are two Cavanaghs listed in Killyman, namely Bernard, in Corr, and James, in Bogbane.
