  General Notes:

According to passenger lists, a Neil Tweedley, aged 32 years, born in Scotland, arrived aboard the Athenia on 23 April 1913 at St John, New Brunswick, Canada from Glasgow Scotland.

In his attestation paper, dated 10 February 1915, for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force, Neil Tweedley stated that he was born on 2 December 1881 and that he lived in Pointe-St-Charles Montreal Quebec. He was a waiter, married, and his next of kin was Mary McLarg. He had previously served for 8 years in the Seaforth Highlanders and 6 years in the reserve.

Neil died in France in the Great War:

Neil married Mary McLARG, daughter of Jacob MAHARG and Catherine DOLAN, on 27 December 1908 in St Mary's Chapel, Glasgow, Scotland. (Mary McLARG was born about 1881.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church by Patrick J. Diamond of St Mary's RC Church 89 Abercrombie Street Glasgow. The witnesses were Daniel F. Crossan and Mary Wilson.

The groom, Neil Tweedly was recorded as aged 27 years. He was unmarried and an engine keeper. His usual residence was 38 Sister Street Glasgow. Both of his parents wer deceased.

Mary A. Marharg, the bride, was recorded as 27 years of age too and was single. She was a power loom weaver. Her address was the same as for the groom. Both of her parents were deceased.
