GRANT, Patrick 2nd of Dalvey 2User ID: P317. General Notes: "Patrick Grant died April, 1576. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Patrick, who was the ancestor of the first Grants of Dalvey, afterwards of Dunlugas. Dalvey was sold in 1680 to John Campbell of Frierstoun, but these lands were afterwards purchased in 1682 by James Grant, younger of Gartinbeg, advocate, afterwards Sir James Grant of Dalvey. Robert Grant who sold Dalvey is commonly said to have purchased Dunlugas, and to have founded the family of Grant of Dunlugas." Patrick married Janet GRANT, daughter of Duncan McCONDACHT GRANT in Gartinbeg and Mary ROSE, 6 December 1565(contract).1 (Janet GRANT was born about 1551.) Marriage Notes: "Patrick Grant of Dalvey, who succeeded in 1576. He married(contract dated 6th December 1565) Janet, daughter of Duncan Grant in Gartinbeg, in view of which his father, on 5th January 1565-6, disponed to him and his future spouse the lands of Dalvey, reserving to himself and wife their liferents. The charter was confirmed by the Bishop of Moray in 1580. He died in 1603." |
