"Mr John Grant In Upper Town Of Easter Elchies

The Testament Dative and Inventary of a Certain Debt and Sum of money which pertained to the Deceast John Grant late in Uppertown of Easter Elchies the time of his death which happened in the month of (blank) Given up and Confirmed by George Grant in Uppertown of Easter Elchies Executor Decerned and Confirmed to the said Defunct by the Commissary of Moray Conform to Decreet Dative in his Favour on the Protestation That the Executor have Retention in his own hands out of the first and readiest of the Defuncts [sic] Subjects of the Expence of his ffuneralls preferable and priviledged Debts Expence of this Confirmation and Generally of all the Expences which he has or may Deburse In the Execution of the Office of Executry any manner of way and that he have Liberty to add and Eik Thereto as shall afterwards Come to his Knowledge Impriming the said Executor under Protestation foresaid Gave up Granted and Confirmed That there was resting to the said Defunct the time of his death the Sum of three Pounds Sterling being a part of the Sum of ffifty Pounds Sterling of Principall and Interest thereof still due and till paid Contained in and due by the Deceast Captn Ludovick Grant of Knockand on his accepted bill to the said deceast John Grant dated the ffourth day of January One Thousand Seven hundred and eighty three Years and Payable Twelve months after date

Mr Ludovick Grant Junr Writer in Edin Commissary of Murray and Mr George Fenton Writer in Elgin his Depute by the Tenor hereof ratifys approves and Confirms George Grant Executor to the said Defunct, Giving, Granting & Committing to him full power and Warrant of Intromission with the Sum of money given up in Inventary and Confirmed on and received William Scott Sherriff Officer in Elgin Cautioner for him. That the Sum of Money given up & confirmed on shall be made ffurthcoming To all persons having Interest as words of Law Given at Elgin the Twenty Fourth day of april Siventeen hundred and Eighty Eight years By Geo: Fenton"
