Alexander married Anne GORDON, daughter of Cosmo George GORDON 11th Earl, 6th Marquis, 3rd Duke of Gordon and Katharine GORDON, on 24 September 1782.1 2 (Anne GORDON was born on 16 March 1748 in Conduit Street, London, England 2 and died on 7 June 1816 in Huntly parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 1.)

"Alexander Chalmers, born 1720, son of James C., factor to the Duke of Gordon at Cairnwhelp, and Jean, daugh. of William Law, min. of Boharm, and grandson of George C., min. of Botriphnie; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, 1735-9; licen. by Presb. of Strathbogie 1st Oct. 1740; pres. by the commissioners of Cosmo George, Duke of Gordon, 3rd March, and ord. 3rd Dec. 1747; app. chaplain to the 88th Foot in 1750; died 2nd Oct. 1798. He marr. 24th Sept. 1782, Lady Anne (died at Huntly, 7th June 1810, aged 69, s. p.), second daugh. of Cosmo George, third Duke of Gordon, and Lady Catherine Gordon, only daugh. of William, second Earl of Aberdeen.
