George married Margaret STEWART, daughter of Henry STEWART 'of Newton of Boharm' and Helen GRANT, on 6 January 1685.1 (Margaret STEWART was born about 1663 and died on 4 March 1760 1.)

"1751, Sept. 4. - Receipt by Margaret Stuart, relict of Mr. George Chalmers, late minister at Botriphny, to Magdalen Gordon of Birkenburn, relict of Mr. John Stuart, late minister at Drumblade, for 40 merks, being a year's interest of 800 merks due to her by bond by William Gordon, late of Birkenburn, now deceased : signed at Pittivaich, September 4, 1751, before Mr. Alexander Chalmers, minister at Glass [and her son] and John Maver in Pitglassie, kirk officer at Mortlich (ibid.)."

"George Chalmers, born 1654; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1673); schoolmaster of Rothes, 1674-80; passed trials before the Presb. of Aberlour, and recommended to the bishop for licence 18th Sept. 1678; pres. by Alexander, Master of Saltoun, in April, adm. and inst. 1st June 1682; did not conform at the Revolution, but was allowed to retain his office; died 24th Feb. 1727. He marr. 6th Jan. 1685, Margaret (died 14th March 1760), daugh. of Henry Stewart of Newton of Boharm, and had issue James, portioner of Newton of Boharm, and factor to the Duke of Gordon at Cairnwhelp in Cairney [father of Alexander C., min. of Cairney], served heir 16th Aug. 1727; Alexander, min. of Glass; Helen (marr. Alexander Stewart of Lesmurdie), died in 1758, aged 72; George, died in 1700.
