"ADAM HARPER, son of preceding; born 9th Aug. 1660; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (3rd July 1679); schoolmaster of this parish in 1679; passed trials before the Presb. and was recommended to the bishop for licence
3rd Oct. 1682; assistant at Duffus in 1683; pres. by Arthur Forbes of Balvenie before 17th March, ord. (at Elgin) 15th Sept., and adm. 16th Sept. 1686; dem. 12th June 1716; retired to Cairnwhelp in Cairney, where he continued to officiate; died there 14th May 1726. He marr. (1) 2nd Oct. 1687, Janet (buried 2nd Jan. 1703), daugh. of John Leslie of Kininvie in Mortlach, and had issue John; William, Episcopal min. in Edinburgh, born 2nd March 1693, died 19th Dec. 1765; Thomas; Alexander; Margaret (marr. Alexander Robertson, Mill of Keith); Helen; Janet: (2) 31st Aug. 1703, Margaret (died at Ringorum in Knockando before 14th May 1753), daugh. of Alexander Gordon of Arradoul in Rathven, and had issue Peter; Cecilia; Adam; Elizabeth; Katherine ; Anna. Adam married Janet LESLIE of Kininvie in Mortlach, daughter of John LESLIE 6th of Kininvie and Helen GRANT, on 2 October 1687.¹ (Janet LESLIE of Kininvie in Mortlach was born about 1662 and was buried on 2 January 1703 ¹.)

  Marriage Notes:

Some authorities have Adam Harper married to Janet Leslie's sister, Elizabeth. However their children's baptism records in Boharm parish record their mother's name as Janet Leslie. ²

Adam next married Margaret GORDON, daughter of Captain Alexander GORDON 4th of Arradoul and Bailie of Badenoch and Cecilia KING, on 31 August 1703.¹ (Margaret GORDON was born about 1668 and died before 14 May 1753 in Knockando parish, Moray, Scotland.)
