"William (Harper), born 1619; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1637); brought testimonials from the Session of Glenbervie and Presb. of Mearns, when he was approved as tutor to the family of the laird of Frendraught 14th Dec. 1642; brought testimonials from the Presbs. of Kincardine O'Neil and Deer when he was admitted on the Exercise by Presb. of Strathbogie 27th April 1653; pres. by James Sutherland of Balvenie, and ord. 25th Oct. 1654; died 20th Dec. 1685. He marr. (1) 20th Sept. 1659, Elizabeth (buried 3rd March 1671), daugh. of Walter Innes of Auchlunkart in the parish, and had issue Adam, min. of this parish;Walter; Thomas, M.A. (King's College, Aberdeen, 8th July 1684); William; Patrick; Jean (marr. George Davidson); Anna (marr. 10th Nov. 1684, John Muir, merchant, Edinburgh): (2) Nov. 1671, Margaret, daugh. of John Alexander, merchant, Aberdeen, and step-daugh. of David Seaton, bailie in Elgin, she survived him, and had issue Alexander; David; James; Margaret.
