"1695, January 27.-William Gordon (VI of Birkenburn) was present with other heritors at a meeting, apparently of the kirk session, at Keith, on some church business; and he with William Duff, son to Alexander Duff of Braco, was a witness at the baptism of William Gordon, lawful son to Charles Gordon of Glengerack, July 2, 1699."

"The local tradition is that, in the decaying fortunes of his house, with a number of spirited young men from his native parish of Keith, he (Alexander Gordon 3rd of Glengerrack) joined the King's forces abroad, and fell at Fontenoy in 1745. He is said to have been succeeded in 1745 by his brother William, who died soon thereafter."
