GORDON, Alexander 5th Laird of Birkenburn, & Commissioner of Supply 2Another name for Alexander was GORDON, Allxr of Birken Burn.3 General Notes: "1655, November 16.-Sasine granted in lands of Birkinburne to Alexander Gordon, only lawful son to James Gordon of Birkinburne, following on a charter in his favour by his father, and Janet Maitland, his mother, dated at Rawes of Huntly, August 31, 1655, before Alexander Gordon of Glengaracke, Mr. James Gordon in Drumdelgie, Robert Leslie of Edintore, Alexander Duffe of Soccoch, William Duffe, burges of Bamffe, and John Rinde in Rhawes of Huntlie. The witnesses to the sasine were George McKie, merchand in Keith, Henrie Buchan in Lessendrum, Francis Fordyce in Tarnash, James Watte in Birkinburne; the bailie was Alexander Morison in Drume of Keith, and the notary was John Rhinde Petrie-Hay Papers)." Alexander married Helen BISSET, daughter of Robert BISSET 12th of Lessendrum and 2nd Daughter GORDON.1 2 (Helen BISSET was born about 1634 and died after 1704.) Marriage Notes: "The Last named Alexander Gordon of Birkenburn married Hellen Bisset Lessendrum's daughter, with whom he begat three Sons, viz Alxr Gordon his eldest Son who dyed unmarried, James Gordon the second Son who also dyed unmarried both in the flower of their Age, William Gordon his third Son now present Laird of Birkenburn married Magdalen Duff Provost William Duffs daughter in Inverness |
