Loss: of eldest son Gilbert, 27 April 1650, Battle of Invercharron, Ross, Scotland. 1 Gilbert married Anne GORDON 'a Woman of Excellent Beautie', daughter of John GORDON 13th Earl of Sutherland and Agnes ELPHINSTONE, in 1623.1 (Anne GORDON 'a Woman of Excellent Beautie' was born about 1604 and died in 1648 1.). The cause of her death was drowning. Marriage Notes: "Succeeding his father in 1622, he in the following year married Lady Anne Gordon, daughter of the twelfth Earl of Sutherland. 'A woman of excellent beautie' - according to Gordon the enthusiastic historian of her house - she was destined to undergo many afflictions" Gilbert next married Marjory FORBES of the Brux family.2 (Marjory FORBES of the Brux family was born about 1630.)
