User ID: V233. James married Mary KER, daughter of Sir Thomas KER of Ferniehirst and Janet KIRKALDY of Grange, 6 November 1587(contract).1 2 (Mary KER was born about 1568.) Marriage Notes: "Mary (Ker), married to James Douglas, Commendator of Melrose, second son of William, Earl of Morton, and had issue. Mentioned in a discharge by her husband, dated at Oxnam Craig, one of her father's houses, 8 January 1587, for part payment of her marriage portion. She is elsewhere designed as sister of the Ladies Haddington and Balmerino." James next married Helen SCOTT 'of Abbotshall' 7 November 1598(contract).2 (Helen SCOTT 'of Abbotshall' was born about 1575.) Marriage Notes: "James (Douglas) .... married .... secondly (contract 7 November 1598, registered 28 April 1599), Helen, daughter of William Scott of Abbotshall, by whom he had Robert (who was of age 1624) Annas, Euphame, and Mary" James next married Jean ANSTRUTHER in 1609.2 (Jean ANSTRUTHER was born about 1680.) Marriage Notes: "James (Douglas) .... married .... thirdly, in 1609, Jean, Anstruther, by whom he had Margaret, married to William Baillie of Hardington ; Jean, married, first, to Patrick Edmonston of Wolmet, secondly, to Porterfield of Hapland, and thirdly, to Cunninghame of Dankeith ; and Isobel." |
