Mary married David STEWART Duke of Rothesay, son of John [ruled as Robert III] STEWART King of Scots and Annabella DRUMMOND Queen of Scots, February 1399 (1400).1 (David STEWART Duke of Rothesay was born on 24 October 1378,1 4 died on 26 March 1402 in Falkland, Fife, Scotland 1 and was buried in 1402 in Lindores Abbey, Newburgh, Fife, Scotland 1.) Marriage Notes: "He (David Stewart) was affianced first to Euphemia Lindsay, sister of David, first Earl of Crawford, and then to Elizabeth of Dunbar, daughter of George, Earl of March, but in February 1399-1400 he married Marjory, daughter of Archibald, third Earl of Douglas. He died without issue on 26 March 1402 at Falkland, and was buried at Lindores. He was popularly believed to have been starved to death by his uncle, Robert, Duke of Albany." Mary next married Sir Walter HALIBURTON younger of Dirleton, Lord High Treasurer, son of Walter HALIBURTON elder, of Dirleton and First WIFE, about 1403.1 2 3 (Sir Walter HALIBURTON younger of Dirleton, Lord High Treasurer was born about 1382 and died before 10 May 1447 3.) Marriage Notes: "He (David Stewart)... in February 1399-1400 ... married Marjory, daughter of Archibald, third Earl of Douglas....His widow married about 1403 Sir Walter Haliburton younger of Dirleton, afterwards Treasurer of Scotland, and died about 1420." |
