General Notes: "SIR WALTER, who was one of the hostages for the ransom of King James I., and as such was in England from the beginning of 1424 till at all events Michaelmas 1425. He was knighted in absence at the coronation of Walter married Mary DOUGLAS, daughter of Archibald DOUGLAS 3rd Earl of Douglas, 'Black Archibald', 'the Grim'' and Joanna Lady of Drumsargard and Lady of Bothwell, about 1403.1 2 3 (Mary DOUGLAS was born about 1382 and died about 1420 2 3.) Marriage Notes: "He (David Stewart)... in February 1399-1400 ... married Marjory, daughter of Archibald, third Earl of Douglas....His widow married about 1403 Sir Walter Haliburton younger of Dirleton, afterwards Treasurer of Scotland, and died about 1420." |
