HAY, Marjory ¹

Marjory married James ABERCROMBY of Pitmedden, son of George ABERCROMBY of Pitmedden and Christina BARCLAY, by 13 July 1527(charter).¹ (James ABERCROMBY of Pitmedden was born about 1509 and died in 1546.). The cause of his death was murder.

"James, who had a charter from his father, to himself and his wife, of the lands of Pitmeddan and others, the liferent being reserved, 13 July 1527. He married, first, Marjory Hay ... By his first wife he had issue : 1. William 2. Alexander "

Note:

Though Scots Peerage, volume 3, Hay, Earl of Erroll, does not list Marjory as a daughter of the fourth Earl of Erroll or any other Earl of that line, there is a belief that she was his daughter, as below. The source quoted has not been seen:

"Marjory Hay, of 'Errol,' was the daughter of William Hay, 4th Earl of Errol, Lord High Constable of Scotland, and his wife Christian Lyon (daughter of John Lyon, 3rd Lord Glamis and his wife Elizabeth Scrymgeour).
