William married Isabel GORDON, daughter of Sir George GORDON 2nd Earl of Huntly, High Chancellor of Scotland and Annabella STEWART.1 2 (Isabel GORDON was born about 1465 and died by 14 October 1485 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"William, third Earl of Erroll, who was a Privy Councillor to King James III., a commissioner to treat of peace with England 1472, had a charter from King James in. of the Kirkton of Erroll, erecting the same into a burgh of barony, 22 March 1482-83, a charter to himself and Elizabeth Lesly, his wife, of the lands of Incheschiray in the barony of Erroll, 26 March 1501, and of the barony of Glendovok, in Perthshire, 29 June 1503.....He is said to have married, first, Isabel Gordon daughter of George, second Earl of Huntly, and had issue...."

"He (William Hay) is said to have married ... secondly (contract dated 14 October 1485), Elizabeth Lesly, eldest daughter of George, first Earl of Rothes, with issue."

"Lady Elizabeth Leslie, married in 1485 to William, third Earl of Errol. Their marriage-contract is dated at Lindores, 14th October 1485, and by it the Earl of Rothes bound himself to pay to the Earl of Errol the sum of 1000 merks, to be invested in land for the benefit of the said Lady Elizabeth and her heirs. William, Earl of Errol, had a charter to himself, and Elizabeth his spouse, of the lands of Inchescheray, in the barony of Errol, 26th March 1501 ; and another to himself, and Elizabeth his spouse, of the barony of Glendovik, in the shire of Perth, about 1503."
