  General Notes:

In 1700 a long list of the heritors, that is landowners, of Banffshire petitioned the King, William II, regarding trade regulations that they believed to be damaging them. At the beginning of the list both Andersons of Mudhouse can be found:

"Patrick Ogilvie of Boyne
J. Anderson of Mudhouse, elder
John Ogilvie of Kempcairn
J. Anderson of Mudhouse, younger
Alexander Sutherland of Kinminitie
W. Innes of Orton"

from Petition of the shire of Banff

  Research Notes:

DATE OF DEATH

There is a double entry in the Moray Council Heritage Services website (http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/) for this John Anderson. The two entries present a confusion similar to that regarding the date of death of his wife.

One entry (http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/subjects/subject_people_report_view.asp?REF_ID=NM016882), which links him to his wife and son, gives a date of death as 3 July 1724, the place of death as Mudhouse, and John's age as 54, and the headstone reference as Ab710.

The other entry (http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/subjects/subject_people_report_view.asp?REF_ID=NM016878), which does not mention any family, gives a date of death as 20 July 1722, gives no place of death or age, and the headstone reference as MF A Ab1.

The GRO Scotland's People OPR Index of Deaths and Burials lists a John Anderson in Aberlour parish with a date of 20 July 1722, and the text of the parish register identifies him as "John Anderson of Mudhouse", and the date as his date of burial.

Here in Patrick's People website, the two entries above are considered to refer to the same man, and his death is noted, following the parish register, as having taken place in 1722. His date of death was probably 3 July, and his date of burial as 30 July 1722.

John married someone Elizabeth GRANT, daughter of Robert GRANT of Dalvey, then of Dunlugas and Margaret CAMPBELL.1 (Elizabeth GRANT was baptised on 28 May 1683 in Banff parish, Banffshire, Scotland,7 8 died on 13 October 1732 9 and was buried on 13 October 1732 in Aberlour cemetery, Banffshire, Scotland 5.)
