Margaret married Sir James STEWART 'Hearty', Earl of Buchan (3rd creation) and Lord Auchterhouse, son of Sir James STEWART Black Knight of Lorn and Joan DE BEAUFORT, on 27 March 1459.1 (Sir James STEWART 'Hearty', Earl of Buchan (3rd creation) and Lord Auchterhouse was born about 1440 and died in 1499.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Before 1 March 1466 he married Margaret, the only child of Sir Alexander Ogilvie of Auchterhouse, and got with her the Castle of Banff, the baronies of Strathalvah and Down in the county of Banff, and various other lands in the counties of Banff, Aberdeen, and Forfar....The Earl, apparently on his marriage, became Sheriff of Forfar, but he resigned the office in 1466.... .... By his wife he had only one son, Alexander, who succeeded him." (pages 266 and 267)
