User ID: C112. Andrew married Janet MORTIMER heiress of Fowlis, daughter of Sir Roger MORTIMER (last)of Fowlis Easter and Margaret STEWART.1 (Janet MORTIMER heiress of Fowlis was born about 1378.) Marriage Notes: "He (Andrew Gray) married, first, Janet, daughter of Sir Roger de Mortimer and his wife Margaret, daughter of Alexander of Menteith, as appears from a charter of King Robert II., dated at Dundee 20 June 1377, proceeding on a resignation by Sir Roger of the lands of Foulis, in the county of Perth, in favour of the spouses and their heirs" Andrew next married Elizabeth BUCHANAN, daughter of Sir Walter BUCHANAN 12th (13th) of that Ilk and Unknown.1 (Elizabeth BUCHANAN was born about 1405 and died by 1471 1.) Marriage Notes: "On 7 February 1435-36 he (Andrew Gray) had a charter to him and Elizabeth, his wife, of the lands of Woodtowns, in the county of Kincardine. He granted a charter to his son Andrew Gray, by Elizabeth Buchanan, his wife, of part of the barony of Longforgund, and the heirs-male of his body, whom failing, to Patrick, William, and John, his sons, also by said Elizabeth, dated 7 May 1439. Among the witnesses to this charter are Andrew Gray, his son and heir, John Gray, his son, Thomas Gray and William Gray, 'nepotibus meis.' " (page 272) |
