  General Notes:

John and Alison Nisbet and their three children were recorded by the 1841 UK census for Innerleithen Peeblesshire living at Pirn. William, the middle child was recorded as 3 years of age and born in Peeblesshire.

William, was the informant of his son, Andrew's birth before the registrar, Henry Arnott Imrie, at Innerleithen on 10 March 1874. William was recorded then as being a wool spinner. His marriage date and place of marriage was noted as 16 August 1872 at Innerleithen. 4


William married Jessie STARK, daughter of John STARK and Janet FLEMING, on 16 August 1872 in Innerleithen parish, Peeblesshire, Scotland.1 (Jessie STARK was born on 29 July 1846 in Kirkurd Parish, Peebleshire, Scotland 1 and died on 5 September 1919 in Innerleithen parish, Peeblesshire, Scotland.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according the the forms of the Church of Scotland. The couple were married by Alexander Williamson, Minister of the Parish of Innerleithen. Robert Nisbet and John Stark were the two witnesses.

The bridegroom, William Nisbet, was an unmarried man, aged 34 years. He lived in Innerleithen and was a woollen spinner. His father was deceased.

The bride, Jessie Stark, was also single and from Innerleithen. She was 25 years old and was a housekeeper by occupation. Her mother was deceased. Jessie Stark made her X mark.

The marriage was registered at Innerleithen on 20 August 1872, James Lyle being the registrar. 5
