Birkenbrewel or Birkenbrewl, and even Birkenbrowl, are alternative spellings found for the place where James and his family lived in the parish of Auchindoir and Kearn in 1851.

J. G. Smith MD certified the cause of death.

The son of James Home, William Home, who had been present where his father died, gave notice of his death before the registrar, Harry L. Smith, at Auchindoir on 2 July 1866. 6
