"With his uncles, David and James, and his brother Robert, he (David Hamilton) accompanied James V. on his matrimonial voyage to France, when that monarch espoused Magdalene, daughter of Francis I. (1537.)"
"Among many other grants, he (David Hamilton) obtained, from the crown, the ward of the lands which had belonged to his father-in-law, Sir William Baillie of Lammington, within the constabulary of Haddington, (1st October 1545;)"
"Under Sir David (Hamilton), Preston and Prestonpans were likewise united into one burgh of barony, and endowed with all the immunities and privileges thereunto belonging : the right likewise was given to the superior of erecting a free harbour, and levying dues and customs to the same extent as those exigible at Leith or in any other portofthe kingdom, ( 10th November 1552.)"

He is mentioned as a witness, 9th August 1553 (Hamilton MSS.). He married Janet, daughter of Sir William Baillie of Lamington, and had : - (a) George (No. 519).
