He was thrice married : first, to Margaret, daughter of Sir John Mowat, (or de Monte Alto,) of Stanehouse"

Note:

The line of descent and the chronology of the family of Mowat of Stanehouse is somewhat unclear. 'Sir John Mowat' seems to be too early in the line to be Margaret's father. His son david had a son named John but he is not referred to as 'Sir John'. ²

Robert next married Marion CRICHTON, daughter of Sir David CRICHTON of Cranston-Riddell and Margaret SCHAW.¹ (Marion CRICHTON was born about 1470.)

Robert next married Helen SHAW, daughter of Sir James SHAW of Sauchie, Captain of Stirling Castle and Isobel, in 1516.³ (Helen SHAW was born about 1460 and died after 1541 ³.)

"He (Patrick Home) married .... secondly, previous to 24 March 1490, Ellen, daughter of Sir James Shaw of Sauchie, 'lady of Dirletoun,' widow of Archibald Halyburton, Master of Halyburton. She survived him, and was married, thirdly, to Sir Patrick Houston of that Ilk, and fourthly, in 1516, to Sir Robert Hamilton of Fingalton" (page 3)
