The question mark after Elizabeth's name is there because the author adds another Elizabeth, who married William Abernethy and became Lady Saltoun. This latter Elizabeth is now considered to be the daughter of William Hay, 4th Earl of Erroll. ¹

James next married Marion STEWART, daughter of James STEWART 1st of Traquair and Catherine RUTHERFORD co-heiress of Rutherford and Wells, Roxburghshire.¹ (Marion STEWART was born about 1508 and died after February 1541(1542) ².)
