George married Janet DUFF, daughter of William DUFF Baron Braco of Kilbryde, 1st Earl Fife and Jean GRANT, in 1753.1 2 (Janet DUFF was born about 1727 2 and died on 3 March 1758 in Carnousie, Forglen, Banffshire, Scotland 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Hay, George, of Mountblairy Second son of Andrew Hay of Mountblairy WS. He was probably under 20 Years at the time of the Rising, and was said to look 15. He married in 1753, Janet Duff, widow of Sir William Gordon of Park, who was then 25 years old, and after her death in 1758 he married Miss Peggy Sinclair of Scotscalder, leaving issue. He was a prisoner in London, having been taken before Culloden. He died peacefully in Edinburgh on 2 July 1771."

"....in 1753 she married again, George Hay, younger of Mountblairy, and had a happy married life with him at Carnousie (which he had purchased from the trustees of Arthur Gordon), and she died there March 3, 1758. She had several Hay children, but only one daughter, born 1754, survived her."

George next married Peggy SINCLAIR of Scotscalder after 3 March 1758.1 (Peggy SINCLAIR of Scotscalder was born about 1730.)
