  General Notes:

"Andrew Hay, 23 November 1719( date of admission as WS)"

from An Exact List

"HAY, ANDREW, of Montblairie. 23d November 1719.

Apprentice to John Stewart, Senr. - Son of James Hay of Rannes, Aberdeenshire. Died 5th December 1750. Mar. (1) Mary, second daughter of Sir Alexander Ogilvy of Forglen, Lord of Session; and (2) 1721, Mary, daughter of George Allardice of that Ilk."

from A History of the Society of Writers

Note:
This Andrew Hay is likely to have been the grandson rather than the son of James Hay of Rannes. The wife of James Hay, Margaret Gordon, died before 1679, so it is not impossible in one sense, but put together with Andrew's date of admission to the Signet (1719), and his apprentisceship to John Stewart senior, who was admitted in 1705, it seems a bit farfetched.
