"IX. Sir Charles Maitland, 3rd Bart, of Pitrichie. He was served heir to his brother, 15 October, 1679 ; 28 January, 1681, to barony of Gight (superiority), and to Auchincreive, 17 December, 1683. Executed an entail of his lands in 1700, and died that year. He married first, Jane, daughter of Sir John Forbes, Bart, of Monymusk .... had issue by his first marriage."
