General Notes: '3. William Gordon was living with his father, Patrick, at Nethermuir in 1696 ("Poll Book," ii., 10). He was granted sasine in an annual rent of the lands of Wartle, Aug. 20, 1696 ("Register of Sasines.") His brother John refers to him in his will, 1724, as "a poor dispirited man and not able to gain his own living: I appoint each of my four daughters to pay him yearly during his life out of their shares of my executry five pounds Scots."' |
