The 1841 census for South Leith recorded Jean Clephane, a "widow toll keeper", living at Marionville Toll House. She was aged in the 55-59 years age group and had been born in Scotland, but not Midlothian.

No entry appears for this woman in the 1851 Scottish census. 2


Jane married Robert CLOPHAM. (Robert CLOPHAM was born about 1780 2 and died before 6 June 1841 2.)
